How It Works
Our mission
To restore Malawi forests, strengthen community resilience, and support long-term climate action through practical, community-led reforestation.
How It Works
Root to Fruit restores Malawi forests, strengthens community resilience and supports long-term climate action through practical, community-led reforestation.
With each tree sponsorship, our Malawi team grows, plants, tracks and monitors trees that contribute to long-term carbon sequestration while providing practical benefits to local communities.
Step 1: Choose your trees
Sponsor a number of trees that feels meaningful to you, your family, or your organisation.
Note: Based on available forestry estimates, a single mature tree can absorb up to approximately 200kg of CO2 over its lifetime. Actual sequestration varies by species, growth, local conditions and long-term survival. Root to Fruit does not issue certified carbon credits.
Step 2: We plant with communities.
Our Malawi team grows, distributes and plants species selected for local conditions and community value. Visit our Plant Trees Now page to select your trees.
Step 3: You receive proof of planting.
We provide a digital Tree Sponsorship Certificate showing the number of trees and GPS coordinates.
Step 4: We monitor survival
Our focus is not just planting trees, but helping them survive and continue benefiting communities over time.
More Than Just Trees
Every tree you plant contributes to:
- Reducing atmospheric CO₂
- Creating jobs in rural Malawi
- Improving nutrition through fruit trees
- Providing sustainable firewood via community woodlots
- Protecting soil and water systems
- Empowering Tree Clubs and local educators
Transparency Note
Root to Fruit does not currently issue certified carbon credits. Your support funds real tree planting, GPS tracking, community stewardship and survival monitoring in Malawi.
